A Division III Tennis recruit has an easier time getting in to college. I mean does the coach let the admissions office know of his want for the student and they get you in? How does it work. Please explain.

Thanks.

What school and it depends what level of recruit that you are. if you don't know I am assuming you are not a high recruit. In that regard the coach gives the ADCOMs a list of recruits in order of his interest. The ADCOMs will take that into consideration. At most DIII schools, it helps a bit, but it won't cancel out a bad app. ADCOMs tell the coach what students qualify academically/personally and the coach adjusts his list every so often.

When I was recruited by Tufts, the coach asked for an unofficial transcript and a copy of my scores so that she could clear me, at least preliminarily, with admissions.

It's not a huge boost like DI, mostly they're just able to tell you whether or not you'll get in. Usually it's a yes. DIII coaches are really limited in what they can push through admissions, so they recruit kids that are mostly in their middle fifties.

Thanks that helps a lot. ses what do you mean middle fifties? And if the coach has you on the list would it help to go ED?

The middle fifties are the spread between the 25th percentile of accepted SAT scores and the 75th percentile. That's what college board shows on their website.

Going ED can be helpful in some situations. Is the coach pushing you to go ED? Ask her if she thinks you have a better shot. The truth is the DIII recruitment has little or no affect on your chances (unless you are a HUGE start that could be playing somewhere else and have the potential to drastically improve alumni relations, etc).

i see i see.... ok thanks.

the coach sends in a list of recruits with a score like 1-6 with 1 being top priority to the admissions office.

this is probably what happens at the smaller schools, but for the bigger sports schools the coach might have a personal hand in the admissions process. but idk
