right now, i'm signed up for math340, but i seriously think it's going to completely kick my ass and i don't wait to completely fail it... are there any students here who have already taken math340 before who can give me an idea of the difficulty of the class? like how many times harder than calc BC?

Most people who took Math340 also took Calc III/Linear Algebra in high school. I felt that the class had moved kind of fast (but I took Calc III before, so I still understood the material). Honestly, I feel that class has a lot of “fake difficulty” by making the material harder through ambiguous questions. The class size is smaller, which is nice, but I think I would have preferred taking 240/241/246.

Also, even though the class size is smaller (and makes it a little more informal) the professor still won’t know you by name unless you talk with them a lot. The only reason I mention this is because I feel ‘small class size’ is emphasized a lot when it really makes little difference in your class room experience.

tl; dr
I didn’t care for it too much, but it’s not terrible. Also, everyone in the class is REALLY smart, so prepare for small curves. And the textbook really, REALLY sucks…
