I know my GPA is not high at all, but i checked our record on Wellesley Applicants, and it seems a lot of students with my GPA did get accepted/wait listed, because Wellesley really loves students from our school. I quite like this school, I'm hoping they'll accept me.

Thanks guys

I don't know how the New SATs work with the admissions office these days, but you sound like you'd get in to me.

Wondering where you applied to for early decision? Good Luck!!

I applied to Wellesley for Early Decision! I will know on Saturday morning whether I got in our not. reaally nervous.

Nancychen, my D is going ED at Wellesley as well. We thought the notification day was next Thursday. Please explain how we will know Saturday. Thanks.

BTW, your credentials are better than my D's in many ways and she has submitted a very good application. It is so hard to know.

I am tiredpapa because it has taken 17 years of love, encouragement, frustration, haranguing and confidence-building to get to this day. Our whole family is probably as nervous as you are. Those people at Admission dish out large helpings of joy and despair each year. It must be tough at times.

Good luck.

I applied to Wellesley for ED. When I contacted with an admission officer, she said that they will send decision letters Thursday (today)!!

Thanks tokudas. Good luck to both of you. The odds are about 3 out of 4 of getting in ED, but that is a very, very self-selected group. The amount of work involved in simply applying is not worth the effort unless one has a fighting chance.

Actually, the odds of getting in ED are not even 1 out of 2. (For the Class of 2009, 47% of ED applicants were admitted.)
Wellesley's certainly becoming increasingly more selective in terms of percentage-accepted. In fact, about 1 out of 3 applicants was accepted for the '09 class.

Tokudas, when did you talk to admissions? I called today and they informed me that they're sending out decisions tomorrow...

just a question (didn't want to start a new thread)- im applying regular to wellesley but was wondering what avg scores + gpa are? my gpa's similar to nancyychen and sat is 1350 (took again in dec)... i have alot of stuff for ec's, have a few leadership stuff and i've interned over the summer and started one (and still continuing) at NIH. does research/internship help alot (at our school internships are norm.. as well as highs in everything.. )??

Carpediem, check out http://www.wellesley.edu/Admission/admission/statistics.html

whoa internships are the norm at your school? wow, jobs and volunteer work are pretty standard at my school but research and internships?? that's impressive - what kind of research/intern work have you done?

my class has high stats everywhere, and almost everyone's in a separate 'academy' type thing where you're required to get an internship. at the beginning of this past summer i interned at a biotech company (and i wouldn't say "interned", but i helped out summer before sophomore year also), and then right after that i started one at NIH in gene therapy. right now it's just straight out research with drosophila flies.. i'd get into more detail but i don't htink anyone would know.. lol but i don't know. i hope internships/research helps admissions? my research/internship isn't original.. im just working with other md's and phd's specifically on a disorder.

Well I'm an international student and I'm going to find out online tonight, since they dont want us to have a mailing lag. But I do know that the Early Decision acceptance rate has been lowering the last few years. from 68% to around 47%. I'm just really nervous.
Nancy

Jie06, I e-mailed admissions last month. I guess it is possible that they are sending out decisions today...

If anyone is wondering
I got deferred. Which is probably worse than out-right rejection because it's another round of waiting.

I am sorry that you didn't get in right away. Good luck with the rest of your applications. You sound like you have a lot to offer a school.

Sympathies, Nancy. My D was outright rejected EA at her first choice school...not sure which is worse...the outright rejection was painful. The good news is that she wound up being very happy where she is and wouldn't trade for anywhere else at this point...and I mean anyhere.
(E.g., she'd tell Harvard to take a hike.)

I'm sorry nancyychen, but you have not been turned down. Lots of people get in on deferred. The wait and the need to complete other applications is the nuisance.

How did you find out? I don't know how to access the results on-line. My D is on edge with the stress. Thanks if you can help.

TP, she's a foreign student...found out by e-mail. U.S. students find out the good old fashioned way...by acting like vultures with respect to the mail box.

Fwiw, the absolute odds on deferred -----> acceptance are lousy. Celebrate if it comes about but meanwhile make other plans in depth.

yeah. acceptance for deferral is only 24%. but im trying to stay positive, I'll probably write another essay and maybe add another teacher recommendation. At least make my presence known to the admissions office.
I'm not too worried, its a bit of a relief, since I was worried about the binding part. At least if in the last moment I have a choice like if I want to goto somewhere warmer, i'll attend UC Davis or something.

I hope everyone else gets better news, Esp you TP's Daughter.
Nancy

Oh and i was wondering where your daughter ended up at TheDad?
