can anyone offer a little guidance on sending ACT scores?

It's time to send ACT scores to the colleges. My daughter scored a 30 composite on her first try and then a 29 on her second. It would seem obvious that the first score is the one she should send to colleges--however, she happened to do better on the writing portion of the second test. She went from an 8 to a 10. Does that matter enough to let colleges see that second test? I know there only a one-point difference from a 30 to a 29, but there's something about going from a 30-something to a 20-something that seems worse than a single point.

Send both since most colleges will take the highest score or sometimes superscore.

But some of the colleges she’s looking at do not super score. In that case, should she just send the 30?

If they definitely don’t superscore, then just send the 30. You might check and see if they use the ACT writing for placement (some do) and if so, send that later, after acceptance.

Thank you both for your help. I talked to my DD’s private tutor, who said she should definitely send both scores, as it is very important for the colleges to see that she got that 10 in writing. She said even if they don’t officially superscore, if they want her, they will consider her best scores when making their decision.
