I applied to UChicago for English, so I thought it’d help if I wrote an additional writing supplement. The thing is, I wrote it rather hastily (in about 30 min) and impulsively submitted it but I’m not confident about it at all… can anyone read and give me honest feedback?
Thanks!!
I doubt the admissions office will care. The volume of published research, writing supplements, newspaper articles, etc. that people submit is too much for them to possibly read it all. Which suggests, at least to me, that they read very few such supplements.
In general, however, the reason UChicago has fairly lengthy essays with famously quirky prompts is to allow students’ ability to shine through in a way a 100-word essay/glorified sentence wouldn’t. Those will be what make the difference, especially as the college doesn’t admit by major.
