Can Anyone recommened some schools for me? Reaches, Matches and safeties

Hi, everyone. So unlike the majority of the users on this website I am not shooting for Harvard, Yale, Colombia, NYU, Dartmouth or any other ivy leauge school for that matter. I want to stay somewhere in the mid, northeast ( I don't know know what you'd call this area, I am referring to NY, NJ, CT, PA, RI) I want to go into education (not sure what in education, but I am thinking childhood ed or English ed), and I would like for a school to have an urban teaching program although this is not a deal breaker. I would like a school with a small- medium population, nothing so large like Penn state or so small like 1000 kids. So I want like 4000+ kids and 20k at most.

I am hspanic female
I am a junior, I am also counting on scholarship $$

I have appx 4.0 GPA (UW)
I am aiming for a 17-1900 on the SAT ( based on Practice)
I am taking APUSH, AP Spanish this year, next year i am hoping to take AP Psychology, AP Literature, AP Government and AP economics ( in NY they are each a 1/2 year course).
I play recreational softball
Over 20 hours of community Service

Um just let me know if you need anything else???
Schools I'm looking at are:

Marywood University
Pace Univeristy
SUNY Cortland
The College of Saint Rose
Syracuse University (idk about this one)
Rutgers (New Brunswick)

IDK how to identify Reaches, safeties, and matches. Any help and recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Look at SUNY Oneonta. It is higher ranked than Cortland.

What is your home state?

Are you looking for need-based aid or merit scholarship money?

If you want need-based aid, then you need to find out if you qualify and you need to look at the schools that give good need-based aid. Most schools do not give great need based aid…especially out of state publics and some privates.

If you want merit scholarships, then you need to get the best test scores you can to go with your GPA.

Do you know how much your family will pay? You might want to find that out if you’re not sure.

I am from New York, I am looking at merit money because I qualify for very, vry little if anything for need based. My parents will put in different amounts depending how uch out of pocket I need to pay. For example at a SUNY I’d pay about or a little more than 20k without scholarship money ( just so i have a round number) she said she’s pay about half (of any 20k school, if this is all I have to pay after receiving money) BUt if i went to a 40k a year school we were looking at maybe 10-15

I was looking at SUNY Oneonta, my only complaint would be that it is a historically teachers college, and I would like to meet other people ( I know it may not be true so it is still on my list but my mom is friends with someone who went and all she knows are teachers!)

Look up the teacher credentialing method in the state you intend to teach in. This may affect your choice of university.

Remember that a safety school is one you will definitely be admitted to and which you will definitely be able to afford.

Common data sets include the mix of majors that students choose. Unfortunately, it seems that the common data set for SUNY Oneonta is not easily findable on its web site.

SUNY New Paltz has a good education program. Rutgers will cost you about $40K/year since you are OOS. How would you pay for the $25-30K/year that your parents would not?

SUNY Oneonta is still known for education. I believe it was one of the first SUNY’s to get NCATE accreditation.

But it also has many other majors. Its business program just received AACSB accreditation. It is also well known for its music industry major and the human ecology major is paralleled to Cornell’s. And it has many other traditional majors.

If you do not understand the accreditation’s, look them up. They are the gold star for a program.
