Is UBC’s Science program as competitive as U of T’s or McGill’s? I heard U of T’s ‘weeding’ process is pretty intense during the first year, will UBC be this vigorous?
I have a lot of relatives who went to UBC, but it was quite a long time ago. They all liked it, and they all graduated in four or five years. My impression is that UBC is not quite as tough as Toronto or McGill in terms of the “weeding out” of students who aren’t going to make it. However, if you go there you will want to focus on academics and keep ahead in your classes. I think that it is a great school for an academically strong student, and one of the most beautiful campuses anywhere. It has a well deserved strong reputation across a wide range of subjects.
I assume that you know that it rains a lot in the winter, and that it is quite a large university.
Hopefully a more recent student will comment with more up to date information.
Thank you @DadTwoGirls . I appreciate you sharing their experiences at UBC
