Can anyone suggest some good safety schools?

Hi, i am currently in the process of deciding what colleges I'm going to apply to and I don't know what schools I should consider for safeties. Help!!!

Requirements: In the northeastern, private schools

Here's my stats:

(My schools offers a very limited selection of AP courses, I've taken a good majority of them)
-Also my school hasnt established our transcript gpa's yet

University of Connecticut

Uconn is a little to close. I want to go to a private college or university anyways.

^ what do you intend to major in at college?

possibly political science or pre-law

Ehhh, I don’t want to go to public state schools, but thanks anyways!

Yeah, I’m from Connecticut too, and UCONN would definitely be a safety. They will literally admit everyone from CT :)

May I ask why you don’t want to attend a public? The honors colleges at many publics are kind of like private colleges in themselves (i.e. Penn State’s Schreyer Honor College, UMD - Honors or even UCONN’s honors program) but still could be considered safeties. However, still, some honors programs might require slightly higher SAT scores.

I can’t really think of a lot of private safeties.

Schreyer Honor College is nowhere close to being a safety - it’s regarded as one if not the best honors college in the country

Northeastern University.

I’ve thought about northeastern, I think it’d be great to go to school in boston.

Private colleges are just my preference and I don’t want a large university experience

How about Drexel? Even Boston University I think you would most likely get in…two good private schools.

ithaca, fordham, bu

Do you need merit or financial aid?

if you tell us what sort of schools you’re looking at for matches/reaches, we can help find some similar schools for safeties. or at least what you’re looking for. i.e. size? urban/rural? etc

BU is not a good idea. It is 30,000+ students. If you aren’t looking for a huge school, then BU is not the way to go.

Syracuse University?
Union College?
University of Pittsburgh?
These generally aren’t “safeties”, but seeing as you are near the top of your class, I’d consider them safeties.

BU has a little over 18,000 undergrads which is similar to Pitt. Another point to note is that Pitt is considered a “state related” school not a private as the OP wants. If he doesn’t want a public school I doubt Pitt would be much of an interest.

Financial aid isn’t a huge issue or deciding factor for me.

Yea, I visted BU and I didn’t like it that much.
I’ve already visited Union and I’m defintely applying there. I’m considering syracuse too. Thanks!

If you liked Union–think about Skidmore, Franklin & Marshall, Muhlenberg, Ithaca, Dickinson and Susquehanna, most of which would be safe for you. Syracuse is quite large and snowy.
