Can Appeals Be Typed/Printed?

The question is the title. The school in particular is UC Berkeley.

Here's the quote from the 2011 FAQ:

"If you do have significant new information to present and decide to appeal our admissions decision, please submit your request in writing, postmarked by April 15, 2011."

So what does "in writing" mean?

as opposed to “electronic”. Send it, on paper, snail mail.

They don’t literally mean “hand” written. They mean on paper.

It should be typed. Handwritten letters are harder to read than typed letters.

Thanks a bunch

“In writing” means that you can’t do it by telephone.

“Postmarked by” indicates that they expect it to come through the mail.
