Can certain classes be used to count for more than one major?

I'm already suspecting that the answer to this question is yes, but I figured it might be worth asking because it kind of is a big deal. The class I'm looking at in particular is STAT 220, which is an interesting class because it seems that people all across the board take it. Lots of majors require this class for some reason. So if you're a double major and both of your departments need STAT 220, would the five credits you gain from this class be applicable to both?

It seems that if the answer is yes, it could be too easy to earn a double major if there are many overlapping classes. By the way, does anybody know what two majors have the most overlapping courses?

Yes. Difficulty depends what kind of double major you plan to do. For example, EE/CSE would be very simple because the prereqs are near identical.

Probably Econ and Business. Both need Econ 200, Econ 201, Stat 311 (business prefers Qmeth 201), Math 112/124.

Double majors with Business are a little more difficult to plan because they are their own separate school. Make sure you talk to an advisor and create a graduation plan early on
