Can colleges repeal your acceptance?

I have been accepted to Miami U (Oxford), U of Cinn, and U of Vermont. My first choice is Miami but I'm worried about my 2nd semester high school grades which are dropping pretty low. Besides, I only have a 3.0 GPA with sub par sat/act scores. In fact, I'm really surprised I was even accepted to Miami. My question is this. If Miami is unimpressed by my 2nd semester academic performance can they repeal my acceptance? If so, would they be less inclined repeal my acceptance if I've already committed to their school? This is something that I'm really worried about.

are you passing with at least a C? and why are they sinking?

they can rescind, but usually for Ds and Fs....

You mean revoke/rescind admission? Yes, if you suck badly enough. You can get by with a C here and there and a bunch of Bs, but Ds and Fs are reaaaaally pushing it.

For the first time, the University of Washington is systematically revoking the admission of high-school students who slack off during their senior year. The UW plans to get even tougher next year.

"We want the students to be prepared. The biggest reason students fail in college is their preparation in secondary school," said Jim Blackburn, a CSU enrollment director whose 23 campuses have been trying to reduce the number of freshmen needing remedial courses.

He said the university rescinded about two dozen acceptance letters at each campus for this year, and sometimes more, including 63 at San Francisco State University and 43 at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. UC Berkeley canceled 37 offers of admission. UCLA canceled 73 freshmen admission offers.

So the answer is yes, if your grades drop enough you CAN be rescinded. Look at your acceptance letter and the websites of the schools accepting you for more info.

Thank you.

one of the kids at my school almost had his rescinded because his gpa dropped from 3.8 to about 3.3 senior year second semester. although his admissions wasn't rescinded, the counselor had to write a lengthy vouch that he'll perform well in college

Yes. But not for going from a 3.5 to a 3.4 gpa.
