I got into heated argument in my group chat and said some inappropriate controversial things do you think non prestigious universities can view my group chat. I’m not talking about schools like Harvard or mit but like schools that are non prestigious.
I’m probably just overthinking this I googled online and it says most colleges aren’t checking social media anymore and if they do it’s usually twitter or instagram. Should I be worrying about this.
Slim to zero chance. Colleges spend about 8 minutes reviewing your application, and it will take them that long to just get through your grades, test scores, LORs and essay.
I don’t think you need to worry about it for college admission but I’d encourage you to be careful about your social media presence and what you post as employers absolutely could do a deeper search.
Well my social media presence on the open web (meaning not private chats) is ok. It’s like any other teen. I just messed up and made one bad statement.
From a parent who knows nothing about snapchat can you delete the posts? I doubt they would ever see them but it wouldn’t hurt to delete. Also, not just for college apps but for life in general, think before you post. Nothing is private anymore. All it takes is someone screenshoting something and then it lives on.
