Can comp sci count as a science class

Because I want to take it but that's the only place I can fit it in. :(

Oh Rusty, rusty
Do you really really think
That I would trust you?

I think it’s more of a mathematics class than a science class (numerous schools in my area run the AP CompSci program through the math department), but you could try to make an argument that it’s a science class because (bluntly put) it’s computer ** science. **

The class is under the math department at my school.

Yea it’s definitely closer to math as it’s logic basically but since it’s applied it can be counted as a science I guess. Funny thing is in my school it’s neither. Only a computer credit for AP.

At our school, it counts as a math class, and I would probably say that computer science is more math than science.
CB considers it a STEM (Science/Tech/Engineering/Math) AP class.

Actually, thinking of it. Computer Science isn’t even really science by the traditional definition. I don’t see how discrete math, number theory, and general programming can be “science”.

My school considers it a math class, but I heard that colleges don’t view it as a math class or anything more than simply an elective. If I were you, I wouldn’t substitute another Science class for AP Comp Sci.

In my opinion, it is no less of a science than physics, but when most competitive colleges talk about science classes, they’re usually talking about the big three: Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Environmental, Human Anatomy/Physiology, and sometimes Psychology (among other classes) can be considered sciences, but usually competitive colleges expect you take advanced levels of the first three in addition to any other science classes you may have the desire to take.

Oh, ok. Well what if I take bio chem and phys, as well as ap physics? Then could I justify taking comp sci?

Yes, since you have your three basic sciences.

Yay! This pleases me. I really wanted to take it it seems interesting

lol i wouldn’t consider it a science . wth
