and if so, how?

You could just mail it to them and make sure it has your details on, name, date of birth, high school name, Eli ID and maybe Common App ID.

But only send it if it’s going to provide a different viewpoint on you than the other recommendations show. You don’t want to annoy them by sending the same thing that they’ve already seen twice in your application.

ehh i would just let fate run its course, and not worry too much about yale. yepp
it’s healthier this way

the only thing i’m submitting is a new set of SAT scores

^yeah I can only improve my SAT scores by 10 points, so I’mma send an extra rec :D

Do you think that despite all your grades, SATs, counselor rec, two teacher recs, short answers, common app essay and Yale supplement essay… that with ALL that, this 3rd recommendation is going to provide a new insight into you that they haven’t already seen and will be the difference between a rejection and an acceptance?

If you can honestly say yes to that, then I say go for it.

Otherwise, I still think it’s unnecessary.

I say I’ve got virtually no chance of getting in RD now, so I’m just going to go for it she really likes me! when she found out I didnt get into yale EA, she gave me a bag of candy, a cookie, and a stuffed animal. Lol!

Of course you still have a chance! You’re still a very competitive applicant.

I hate to say it, but there are other schools! And you will still get into one of them. Don’t **** off the admissions staff at Yale by sending them a bunch of superfluous stuff just because you don’t think you have a chance.

Just be positive, and keep an open mind. You’ll have a great time wherever you go to college.

I had the same question. I was originally debating whether to send them a music teacher recommendation for the EA round [I’ve been taking lessons with the teacher for over ten years] but decided against it. Now…I might just go ahead and send it; it’ll definitely be a new perspective. however I definitely don’t want to tick off the adcoms…ahh, idk…

Betcha 10 bucks I don’t get into H, Y, or P

I don’t recommend the third teacher rec. You risk irritating the admissions people, who are swamped with paper and who have expressly asked for two teacher recommendations. If there is someone else --coach, employer, outside music teacher-- who could provide valuable additional information about you, you could ask him/her to submit an extra recommendation. But I would not ask another teacher from the high school to write a rec.

Right, Stupefy, because there are no other decent schools than Harvard, Yale or Princeton :P

Would a recommendation letter from my school principal carry some weight? He knows me quite well, as I’ve been one of the most active students in my school and he said he “loves seeing me everywhere”, and chose me to be a board of ed student representative. He’s impressed by my academic achievement, my independent studies in particular. He also went out of his way to bail me out of trouble when I was involved in a fight; he completely nulled the punishments that were unfairly given to me and completely waived the issue; “it never happened” was what he said.

Worth a shot?
