on that topic, how do u answer, “Are you US citizen or permanent resident?”? aren’t most people both…? i think i just checked the first box, whatever that was :|

OP - You are a US citizen for admissions purposes, but once the college gets wind of the fact that you are a dual-national they get to count you in their statistics for “international students and students with dual-citizenship”. It makes lots of them really happy to be able to claim one more student in that category because then they look more interesting. And, in the event that you do a junior year abroad in that other country you won’t have to waste time getting a visa.

TheyCallMeCC - “Are you US citizen or permanent resident?” refers to the immigration status of legal permanent resident (green card holders). For FAFSA purposes, these individuals are treated like US citizens.

Being a dual citizen won’t hurt my chance for financial aid right?

“why is that rather sad? if i was a guy & there was a draft, i’d be glad to have an out from war, too.”

None so blind as those who aren’t willing to see. Sheesh

^^
You’re being just as blind, if not more so than the previous poster. How come someone who disagrees with you on a point (that has been very contentious in history no less) is suddenly blind? Surely this person is not telling everyone to act in a certain way, unlike you.

T2, since you’re obviously offended by what i’ve said, i figure i’d answer your private message here, if u don’t mind, to possibly hear some other opinions.
“Is it right for you to dodge your country’s calling when all the blue collar families send their dads, brothers and husbands to war?” first of all, those individuals choose to go to war, they’re not sent by their family. & they’re not pressured by the government through a draft, either, like you’re suggesting they be. secondly, who r u to say that i even identify with “my country,” let alone “its calling” in a matter of war? for example, if i were drafted into the iraqi war, i would be forced to fight for things that i don’t believe in. same with almost any war in american history…
“Those men I respect fully.” funny, i respect them, too. i respect that they’ve found something they believe in & are willing to defend it. kind of how i’ve found the things i’m passionate about & put in a lot of my own time volunteering. i’m not exactly comparing the two, but i think u get my point.
as for my “rather selfish attitude,” as u call it…well that’s just ridiculous. & regarding:“Or does your social position place you above those types of people?”…LOL, r u kidding me? way to stereotype people over the internet for disagreeing with u on the subject on drafting…it’s laughable.

if u want to make a separate thread to debate this further, that may be a good idea.

think about what u ignorantly accuse people of.

p.s. you’re right, i don’t see your point. try to actually make a logical one, next time.
