Can EA applicants submit a new essays & add ECs?

This has probably been asked but I just wanted to make sure.

I applied early action and was deferred. Would I be able to submit a completely different essay for any of the supplemental prompts? I wrote about Plato and Play-Doh but after I had already submitted my EA app I had an epiphany of a really fun way to interpret it.

Also, how would I go about updating my list of ECs and such? To my knowledge they prefer to receive updates through UChicago accounts above toying around with CommonApp so would I just update an educational resume (word document) and upload it?

In advance, thank you so much!

Aw man. I really want to know the answer to this question too. Looking at my essays now, I am pretty unhappy with them. I really would like to re-write them. Does anyone know if we can rewrite them?

Hey Will and theatergeek, check out the “Ask a UChicago Admissions Counselor” thread that’s stickied at the top of the UChicago thread list here. Your question is answered in post #731. If you want to ask a follow-up question that will get the attention of the Adcomm, post it in that thread. Good luck to you both!

I think it’s ridiculous to upload these materials by ourselves, but it seems we could upload in our UChicago accounts… Anyone knows if we really could upload anything including transcripts in our accounts?

Hi there, the material uploaded by you in to your account appears as “student uploaded” when we review the material; we know what has been submitted by you and what has been officially submitted by a school. Please do have documents like transcripts and recommendations submitted officially by your school.

Thanks Mutti2012 and Grace!

So thus far I have sent an e-mail to my regional counselor. Now I plan to:

 • Write out a list of my various activities from the first semester of senior year
 • Submit my second supplemental essay just because it was fun =).
 • Double check that the mid-year report gets sent

After I complete these tasks I suppose I will just have to wait and let the Fates decide. Thanks a third time!

Just for a quick reference, here’s the response the Gracious Grace made in the “Ask a UChicago Admissions Counselor,” thread.
" it is OK to upload new materials in your account-- feel free to put in whatever you’d like, although, of course, make sure to keep this information relevant; a new essay is fine, updates of important awards are fine, but please do not feel the need to ask additional teachers to write recommendations or to send us a novel. We do not replace any materials currently in your account with new materials you upload, but will review the new materials in addition to your old materials."
