DS submitted his apps to Harvard & Duke, but opted to not answer optional essays on their supplements. However, he is now working on a required essay for another school's supplement and realizes that he should have included this as the optional essay for Harvard & Duke. Is he able to do this after he already submitted common app and supplements to these schools? He thinks not.

Contact each school’s admissions office and ask. If your S applied ED, at this point I’d say the chances are very slim since the app was due almost a month ago and the decisions are actually 12 days away. But if it’s RD, I don’t see why not.

my college advisor who is really close with Guttentag told me Duke doesnt begin looking at apps until after thanksgiving, fax over the essay as soon as possible–have your Son explain on a cover letter that it is an addition to his current application and he would like it to be included in the review of his app, i would say fax first thing tmrw.

This is not true. I work with admissions on some aspects and I know that committees meetings have begun already.

well it is after thanksgiving, perhaps your right just repeating what i heard…either way it wouldnt hurt to send something in
