can freshman have a car during their freshman year?..
thanks

They can. A parking permit is about $900 a year and you don't need a car to get around campus. Most people don't have cars.

Don't bring a car. I repeat, do not bring a car. Not necessary in the slightest as a BU student. Especially since freshman live right on campus. The T is totally the best way to get around the city.

It's not worth having a car. public trasportation is great in the city. A car is more hassle than it's worth.

Not only is a car more hassle than it's worth...the insurance costs for a car in Boston are sky high. Use the T...it gets you everywhere you need to be in Boston. DS was a BU student for four years and never needed a car. AND if you DO need a car for a day trip, or something of that sort, BU students can rent for the day from Enterprise for a REALLY reasonable cost (I want to say under $20 for the day). DS did that a couple of times.

Just a note about Enterprise. Renters need to be at least 21 years old with a credit card (not a debit card) in THEIR name. I work there and the rates for BU students are about $35/day for a compact car with at $15/day under 25 fee. Students under 25 are only allowed to drive up to a full size car, so no mini vans or Suvs
