Can Freshmen have cars at Pomona next year?

They are building a new dorm and parking structure on North Campus, which has temporarily taken away some surface parking spots. I attended there when dinosaurs roamed the earth (early 80's, what a good time), and know that parking really has never been an issue at Pomona. But recently I heard or read that due to this temporary condition, Freshmen won't be allowed to have cars on campus. We live in Huntington Beach, about an hour (or less) from Pomona, and were planning on letting our incoming Freshman daughter have her car there, for fun and mobility (and spontaneous runs at lunch for Juanita's Burritos or late night to Foster's Donuts).

Anyone know? Maybe some current students can chime in. Thanks.

And no, don't ask to borrow it..... :)

I’d also be very interested in an answer to this. I’m an incoming Sagehen from IL and would be willing to make the trek out in my 98 Sentra if it means I can visit LA or go to the beach anytime…

The answer is NO… Clearly spelt out in the “47 things parents need to know about their incoming student” on pomona.edu site…

Dang. I’ll bet that you could “bandit” it for extended periods, though…

EDIT—My wife and daughter have informed me that during Admit Day, they said that the incoming class of 2014 freshmen can indeed have cars…

They said at the admitted students day in the Northeast that freshmen are no longer allowed to have cars on campus, but the college has started using the Zipcar service, so all is well?

Some freshman this year have cars, but you need a particular reason. (Medical excuse, family excuse etc).

I’m sad that our class & the year before us got so unlucky. No way to beat the system, then?
