My grades and ECs are pretty good but nothing spectacular and I don’t have any hooks like URM or first gen student. So there’s nothing making me stand above the crowd.
But I had this bright idea that this fundraising project idea i’ve been building up for a few years now might be a replacement hook? I’m not the one starting a charity or anything but rather fundraising to help support the charity (I haven’t chosen yet). Would it be a big deal to colleges if I happened to raise close to 10,000 dollars to support a cause? I know thats a super high number but I have a plan for it. I would go through with my fundraiser anyways, even if it doesn’t help my college app, but I was just wondering if mentioning this to colleges would give me a boost?
