Well, apparently, I am a jerk according to the last thread, but it is not my intention. I do wonder what it is about Purdue (not known for psychlogy) that you love so much over an in-state option? Are you and your parents willing to pay the OOS tuition with no merit aid? I hope that you have created an additional list of schools and tht you also apply to your in-state option as well. I understand loving one school, but I am not terribly optimistic about your chances. I do wish you luck, and hope you keep posting so I can see your results.

A rigorous high school will make a difference. Keep up the grades this semester in case you are wait-listed or accepted conditionally.

I am not in love with the school, It Is just a school I happened to applied to and I took a lot of time writing my essay on. I would love to go there, don’t get me wrong, but it is not like I’ll commit suicide If I don’t get in.

Yes I have other schools too, but one of the schools statistically show that it is better than Purdue. I am not sure if that is true though.

I am below the 50% range for the ACT score and I am in the 8% range for GPA (2.5-2.99) How would you say my chances are? At least percent wise, is it just a reach or is it I have no chance at all?? I have some nice ECs as well, and I hope my guidance counselor writes a nice Recc for me.

I didn’t really mean to call you a jerk, I was just really ****ed at those other people. I am not interested in any other Indiana Schools other than Purdue. I was more interested at Indiana-Bloomington at one point, but I changed my mind.

Well, I have 3 friends OOS currently attending Purdue. Being a public university, they sometimes will allow kids with not as good stats in a little easier that OOS student with the same stats. And as people before me have stated it might be difficult for you to get in. My friends who got in I think were all transfers, had great everything (stats) and played football (hook). Other people I know that have graduated from Purdue had great stats too, very good recs and amazing EC’s. I must add everyone applied there for the engineering programs, don’t know people from other majors.

This being said, you have a chance. Everyone does. You’re not that bad. You already applied so just wait for it. I’d think of it as a reach probably. But you never know, maybe the adcoms will be smart enough to acknoledge your value and your personal growth (imrovement of grades, etc). Plus, you’re applying to a major I guess might not be as much in demand as engineering or so. Be positive, hopefully you’ll earn your spot.
