Can homeschool co-op keep record for homeschooled students and issues transcripts? Is it possible for a homeschool co-op or an accredited homeschool program institute to issue transcripts for each homeschooled student? Can they record all the courses homeschoolers took even the courses not in the accredited institute? How will the colleges view the transcript issued by a homeschool co-op?
Homeschool laws vary by location. How colleges view the transcripts depends on whether they’re from a source they recognize (for instance, agencies have to be accredited by an organization they recognize) and whether they contain the courses they expect to see. I see from your other thread that you’re in Asia and targeting schools like MIT. Check their application requirements. They’ll probably require the SAT/ACT. Check to see what else they require.
I haven’t seen a problem with whoever produces the transcript. Homeschoolers simply need one. Sometimes it’s the same with a diploma, but those can be printed off by anyone.
Problems might come when colleges want to ensure what’s on the transcript is legit according to more normal standards. This isn’t solely a homeschooler problem. It happens with public schools too if colleges aren’t familiar with them enough to trust that an A is really an A. That’s where standardized test scores (SAT/ACT) and/or APs help.
