Can I accept waitlist at more than one school?

I have been waitlisted at my top choice school. However, I am still waiting for the ivy results.

If I get waitlisted at some ivy also, can I accept both the waitlists: the ivy as well as an other school?

If the answer is yes, and if I get accepted from waitlist, does it mean I MUST attend the school? Can I decline the acceptance after getting off the waitlist?

Yes you can waitlist at more than one school. Yes you can decline the offer off the waitlist. My understanding is that if you are selected off the waitlist you will have very little time to make your decision. Given that the numbers selected off waitlists are typically very small, you are smart to select more than one, assuming that each of them is more attractive than where you are currently accepted.

Typically, yes, you may accept more than one waitlist offer. (You must physically accept or decline the waitlist offer by each school.) And typically, yes, you have approximately one to two weeks max to decline an offer off the waitlist. But please check with each school to be certain.

What’s more important is that you don’t miss the signing deadline while waiting for fairly rare waitlist offers. You must put a deposit down on ONE school by the deadline or you could miss a chance to enroll in college at all.

If you did not apply ED and put down a deposit, then are later offered a waitlist acceptance at another school, you must notify the original school immediately and you will forfeit your deposit.

I have seen waitlisted students accepted up through the first week of school, so it is imperative that you make a deposit by the deadline at one of your acceptances to be safe.

Good luck!

Sure you can. There is no obligation to accept the admission offer at the end.

You are always in control. U might even get multiple WL offers . U might accept one, later get a better offer and go back and decline the first WL offer.

Okay
Thanks people

@T26E4‌ is correct. Just remember for every offer you accept then reject, you forfeit the deposit. Best wishes!

Do you have to accept a spot on waiting list immediately, or can you postpone it for several more days until you’ve heard from your remaining colleges?

Most schools give you one week to decide on a waitlist acceptance.

Note that waitlist offers typically come in after May 1 decision day, so you should have heard by most schools by the time you get a waitlist offer.

I have a couple of days to waitlist.

But I just wanted to know if it’s all right if I do it now. Since, this school is my top choice, it doesn’t really matter whether I waitlist now or later.

I just wanted to know whether I’ll losing my chance on ivies with it.

But, as it turns out, I won’t be
