Unaware that it was one of the hardest majors to get into, I selected Chemical Engineering and was flat out rejected. With the appeal process, can I choose a different major (such as Chemistry or Mathematics), or must I appeal to ChemE and Chem E only? If the former, do I just say that I want to change my intended major in the appeal letter, or is there something else I have to do?

+1 I need to know of this question asap too!
I applied as a bio major and i’m appealing and I’m wondering if I applied as a communications major if it would greatly improve my chances of getting in.

Might help the ChemE case, but probably not bio.

The basic idea is that if you first-pick a major in the College of Engineering, you should pick a back up major in the College of Letters and Science. The College of Engineering is much harder to get into.

That being said, I don’t know if you can change your major on the appeals process. It’s worth a shot, though.

@CSmeow I see, thanks for the info. Also when we send the appeal in, how does SB know who we are? Are we supposed to put our UC Application ID next to our name or something? Cause I’m pretty sure they are going to look back at our stats/EC’s/Essays

I personally never went through the appeal process, so I don’t know the application logistics of it. Did they give you a link or anything? You can always click on it and see what they ask.

@oldschoolboy I don’t think that the selected major matters for Letters & Science. Worth a shot, though!
