Hey everyone,
I'm planning to submit the CommonApp and each college's supplement online (if I can, based on the college) just for the sake of ease. I also have a resume, though, and it won't copy/paste into the "Additional Info" section without screwing up the text, format, etc. (Yes, I did see that other post.)

Is it in any sort of bad taste to submit an online application with paper supplemental stuff? I mean, my Teacher and Counselor recs will of course be on paper, so it's not like they do everything on the computer nowadays, right?

It's not bad at all. In fact, it's quite normal... At least where I come from.

I applied to all of my schools online, but my counselor sent a separate large envelope to every school that contained the counselor rec, teacher recs, school profile, a copy of my AP scores, resume, and anything else my counselor felt was relevant to the admissions process.

what im doing in terms of the resume is converting it into a online resume format (the kind that is sent through email), and sending it in that format in additional info.

I'd also like to know other's opinion on this; looks like I'll be reviving this 2 month old thread!

I will be sending in the common app. as well as the required supplements via online. However, I also want to send in few extra material: an abstract for a research project and also a more in-depth summary of the activities/awards, otherwise known as a resume.

The "additional info. page," unfortunately, can't fit all these and I want to keep the additional materials in the format I designed. Thus I was hoping to send these through paper mail. Its ridiculous how majority of college apps. only provide 1 line to explain for an activity you've dedicated your 4 years of high school. I understand that this is exactly why the 'elaborate on an extracurricular activity' essay exists, however, this I feel, isn't quite adaquate.

I didn't have faith in the college system that they'll be able to organize the online apps. and the mailed-in additional materials into the same folder. But considering that the recommendation letters all somehow ends up in the same place, yeah, I guess it does.

I would really appreciate any input. This trite question is driving me nuts. Help!
