if i did not apply for the first year? if so, what are the chances of this and what do they judge me based on? my freshmen year grades? thanks

depends on the school you are attending. Some schools are very specific and state if you don't apply for FA as an incoming freshman you will not be eligible for aid in subsequent years.

If your school gives need based aid, your grades won't matter as long as you are in good academic standing and making progress toward a degree.

If you are getting merit aid, continued merit aid will be based on your maintaining a school dictated GPA. But by the same token if you don't apply for merit aid freshman year, it wil be very hard (close to nil) to get in subsequent years.

This is a question you should pose directly to your college.
