Can I apply to a college without requesting information/viewbook?

Is it odd?

Of course you can. Odd? Only because people usually ask for them before they apply since it does not cost anything.

I think the viewbook will give more information about the colleges and help applicant with the "why essay"s.

You'll probably be mailed the items as soon as you enter their data base anyways. But unless you already know the college well, it pays to look at the information. I was so impressed with BU's financial info brochure that gave a detailed explanation how admissions, financial aid , merit aid work together.

Go right ahead.

It used to blow me away to get an app from someone who wasn't even on our mailing list. But in a good way. :-) As someone else said, you'll get all the info once you get in their system.
