can i apply to both coming from a CCC?

u can't. u can only choose 1 major for Ber

It's one or the other.

And, just to clarify, it's the "College of Letters & Sciences"
College of Letters & Science

philosophy? or haas? you gotta be kidding. its almost like saying 6figures or 0figures

Hahahahahaha ^

Well said, I hope that helps you make up your mind ;)

^ one word: pretentious.

I am an idiot I mean ""College of Letters & Science"

wow. people are so absorbed with money it's ridiculous.

You have to apply to one or the other. Consider your future career goals, which appeals more to you? Make a decision from that - keep in mind a degree from Haas will open a lot more doors.

Keep in mind that if you're admitted to Haas, you may still be able to double up in philosophy, but you can't do it the other way around.

If you would like to go to Berkeley your chances of acceptance to philosophy are much, much greater than Haas but that was probably a given.

apply as phil and double major in econ
one thing I confuse though, for L&S, one admitted as pre-major, can I switch to cap major once I am in?

Keep in mind they will literally not look at your appication beyond prereqs if they are not done for Haas. I don't have personal experience with other majors but the same probably goes for the rest.

Sleeper makes a good point. But if you have the prereqs for either, your chances at Haas are slimmer.

It's going to be hard to apply for philosophy and get accepted to econ as a double major. I don't think that's a realistic plan, unless you can plan on a lot of summer school. Even then econ is impacted at Berkeley you may have trouble double majoring in it.

econ has very little pre-req, and some of the classes satify IGETC also

The problem isn't doing the prereqs at community college. The problem is, once you get to Berkeley, how do you complete all of the economics coursework and all of the philosophy coursework. Most (none?) of the philosophy prereqs required for the major are not offered at community college. Plus you need all those upper division philosophy courses. For economics, you need to take calculus-based statistics and and upper division course just to apply for the major, is my understanding, and you need to get high grades in those. On top of that you are doing your philosophy work. It would be hard to do, I think.
