Is Interim the same as early action? Harvard or Standford early action require that student not apply to any other college under any type of early action, early decision, or early notification program.

Can I apply to both the Rice Interim and Standford early action?

I believe you're talking about Harvard's (and I guess Stanford's as well) Single choice Early Action policy. They say that Interim Decision programs (basically, any program with a notification date later than Jan/Feb---you might want to check on that though) do not interfere with your SCEA decision. Basically, if you do SCEA to any school, you can still do an Interim decision, just not another "Early" program (like Early Action)..unless the notification date is past Jan/Feb.

Did that clear things up at all? I believe Harvard/Stanford should have some sort of info on it, if not, call them up.

"Students applying to Stanford's Single-Choice Early Action program may apply to:
Any institution, public or private, under a non-binding Rolling Admission option;
Public institutions under a non-binding Early Action program;
Foreign colleges/universities on any application schedule;
Institutions whose early application deadlines are a requirement for consideration for special academic programs or scholarships only if the notification of admission occurs after January 1; and to
Institutions under an Interim Decision program only if the notification of admission occurs after January 1. "
