Can i apply to both an early decision school and U mich early response (it's kinda like early action suppose) ? What do I do if I get into both?

ED is a binding situation whereas UM's early response isn't. Yes you can apply to both but the ED school's acceptance trumps UM -- if you get into both, you have to go to the former. Good luck to you.

Your answer lies here.

No. The Early Response decision is non-binding; you are still permitted to apply to and enroll at another school if you so choose. Can I apply to other Early Action/Early Decision/Early Response schools along with Michigan?

Yes. Because our decision is non-binding, you are still permitted to apply to other schools that use an early admissions program such as Early Action or Early Decision. Depending on the other school’s requirements, however, you may be required to attend their school if admitted and cancel your application to Michigan.

So the answer, at least from UMich's point of view, is that you can apply anywhere else and can make your decision whenever. Your early decision choice might have a restriction on applications (but I can't think of many single-choice early decision schools), so check with them.

In any case, if you are admitted to the Early Decision school, you are REQUIRED to withdraw all other applications and attend that school. You might find out you were accepted to UMich before or around the same time at the ED school, but you'd have to decline it. ED = binding agreement to attend if accepted. EA (or Early Response) is just a way to find out whether you were admitted at an earlier time than others applying to that school.

that sucks! thanks though.
