I applied to UCLA and UC Berkeley on one app last month. Now i noticed on the UCB majors list, there was Department of engineering: Computer Science , and also a checkbox for College of Letters and Science: Computer Science. I wasn't sure what to choose, so i went with the one in the department of engineering.

Now that i think about it, it seems like this may have been a bad choice becasue i don't see my application being nearly competitive enough to get accepted to that department. Though, there's always the possibility, so i'd like to leave the door open. Now, is there anyway i can go back and choose to apply to the other department as well as a backup??

At UCLA, i applied for film. Same problem. Their film program is so competitive, i'm afraid i won't be accepted. Is there any way i can apply to the computer science AND the film department at UCLA?

Also, if i get accepted to the CS program, would it be possible to minor in film?

Well I also applied to Cal and UCLA as a CS/CSE major and although I'm competitive enough to make it into their liberal arts programs I'm afraid it's the engineering majors which will reject me.

I'm still new to how the system works. Am i being considered ONLY for their EE/CS program since that's what i put? Or is it possible that i will still get accepted to the school despite my choice of program on the app?

UCB only truly admits freshmen to EECS -- which is the "engineering CS" you applied for. The "normal CS" program in the College of Letters and Science starts freshmen in the pre-major, the top 50% of which are allowed to become full-fledged CS majors when they hit Junior year. Same applies for UCLA Film -- you're starting as a pre-Film major, and you need a great GPA to actually get into the major. I don't think you can apply for both CS and Film at UCLA. There is no Film minor. Prepare for the great beyond!
