<p>That is not a problem. And yes, if you get accepted by your ED2 school then you should contact your RD schools, let them know you were accepted at another school ED2 and ask to withdraw your application. </p>

<p>The typical prohibition of ED schools is that you cannnot have a simultaneous ED application pending elsewhere, You can apply RD or usually even EA elsewhere. </p>
<p>In fact you need to have RD apps outstanding at the same time you have an ED app. ED is not a guarantee, and if you wait until you hear back from the ED college the deadline for RD applications will have passed at many schools, as you point out. So you just withdraw the RD apps (and eat the cost) if you get in ED.</p>
<p>My son will likely be filing one ED and two EA applications (as of today, that may change). He will not find out anything until mid-December, so he will be filling out an ED2 app for another school, and RD apps for other schools at the same time.</p>
<p>The dates are all that matters, though to be honest, my son will likely submit an ED2 app before his ED app is decided upon, and then rescind it immediately if things turn out for him. I don’t see him having another choice.</p>
