I am an anthropology major but I am missing my last class which is the math requirement.
I was told I can apply in the fall and update later in January with my final math grade.
Is this true? I thought that without completing math I wouldn’t be allowed to submit the application but my counselor said it should be fine.
For reference I am trying to go to UCLA, UCSD, and UC Berkley.
@nicolettecb5 You just need to complete the math requirement by the end of spring semester of the academic year you are applying . So you can still apply this fall of 2019 but the math requirement should be completed by spring of 2020. Personally, I think it’s better to complete the math requirement in the fall rather than the spring.
If this is the stats course (quant math) complete by fall or some UCs might opt to not admit you. Seeing a math grade is important.
Yes it is stats. If I complete it by the end of this fall can I also apply this fall to go in fall 2020 to UC? I am not trying to wait 2 years to transfer basically.
@nicolettecb5 Yes, you can. While you submit your application in November, you will be required to submit your fall grades by Jan. 31 using a form called the Transfer Academic Update (TAU). Your application is not actually reviewed until after Jan 31 because they consider your fall grades when making admission decisions and those are not available until you submit your TAU.
You can take it in the Spring…but they want to see that you passed this requirement. So I would take it in the fall if you can. Your chances will go down if you don’t have it done in the Fall.
Do not take stats in spring. Trust me. Do it in fall. People telling you spring is okay are putting you in jeopardy.
They need to take it in the Fall or their chances go down considerably. But classes are filled up at this point so hard to say if they registered for a stats class already or will be able to get on a waitlist. If you can get a stats class then you should 100%.
