I am gonna keep this short. I want to apply for cs undergraduate in the states. Many colleges like ut austin require the students to study a minimum of 3 years of social studies in high school. I am studying in the ICSE/ISC (Indian School Certificate) curriculum, where one can take a maximum of 2 years of social studies or science (I selected science). So, can I apply to ut austin and other colleges that have the requirement?
University of Washington, Georgia Tech, Purdue, University of Wisconsin Madison are a few colleges that have that requirement.
Luckily for you, you will not be expected to meet the curriculum requirements of students (US citizens or not) who are going to secondary school in the US.
Unluckily for you, your performance will be considered relative to your class, so you will want marks that put you at the upper end of your cohort.
Luckily for you, you will be considered in the ‘US citizen’ pile.
Unluckily* for you, all of those colleges give preference to in-state residents
*(unless you are temporarily in India, and your family has kept residency in one of those states)
Thanks for the reply.
Also, check your fees for those publics (Washington, Wisconsin). Preference goes to instate residents because those schools are funded by their state residents. Financial aid is limited to in-state residents.
Additionally, CS is impacted at many US campuses. This may affect your priority for admission.
