I REALLY want to become a Mechanical or Aero Engineer, but my GPA is terrible. I murdered it my sophomore year.. It will go up after the end of this semester to maybe a 3.25 or so I think (If I get an A, B, AP B, AP A, A).

My top ACT scores are:
32 English
30 Reading
28 Math
32 Science
08 Writing
29 Composite

I am just wondering what kind of schools I am looking at with this. I have a few extracurriculars so I'm hoping that helps. I was looking at U Hawaii - Manoa because that's really the only place I was thinking would take me that is D1 with an Engineering Program. I mostly wanna stay west coast if I can, maybe Texas..

Comments really help! Thank you!

AP Calc AB and AP English Lit are the only 2 AP's I've ever had. Honors LA in 9th..but..ya..

Extracurriculars:
1 Year ASB Commissioner of Athletics
3 Years of Basketball
2 Years of Soccer
2 Years of Volleyball
1 Year of Math Club
2 Years of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)
1 Year of Mountain Biking Club
About 150 Hours of Community Service (Collected)
There's some others I think, I just can't think of them

Single Mom
Income about $47,000 with my sister also in college at LMU.

Had a summer job going into 9th if that matters

Ya I have came to that conclusion that those schools are just out of reach now, and I’ve accepted it. I’m just wondering where I could get in now.

Oh sorry, I saw it and completely forgot. My fault, sorry again.

Anyway, backtracking…it’s a bit late to be looking for schools. Many have already had application deadlines (otherwise I’d suggest looking at Cal Poly Pomona or something). I’d suggest doing some research. Your ACT is rather decent, which gives you more choices.

I’ve applied to a few schools that sent me free applications (Azuza Pacific University, CO School of Mines), University of Oregon, and Cal Poly SLO. I know UO doesn’t have an actual engineering college but they have a partnership program. Cal Poly SLO is my big reach, as their engineer applicants have like 4.4’s… but you never know… haha

Lowkey Marines are my fallback if everything doesn’t work out. It’ll pay for college (and help me get into a better one via CC. It just takes a lot more time.)

There are lots of CSUs with credible engineering programs. Sac and SJSU have D1 sports and credible programs. I’m pretty sure you’d make CP Pomona which isn’t big on sports but has a great engineering school.

I’m assuming you’re interested in U of Oregon because of their sports, but Oregon State has a phenomenal engineering school and great D1 athletics. Nothing against UO, but Oregon State is the school to apply to for engineering.
