I have already paid a $300 deposit to RIT. Yesterday I found out that I was removed form the wait-list in Purdue University and offered admission for Fall 2015. However, I have not received my financial information from Purdue yet and I am also waiting for a final decision form UMASS Amherst in mid-may. Can I pay 2 deposits and cancel one later or cancel both? I will definitely cancel before June so my question is can I actually cancel enrollment to either college at any time and will I have to pay anything other than the non-refundable deposit if I do cancel?

Check if Purdue’s FA package will arrive before your decision time. When you pay a deposit to another school, you need to contact the previous school that you will not attend within a reasonable time frame. You should wait till last day to reply to Purdue so you can buy more time to wait for other school. If anything happens after you pay the deposit to Purdue, basically you need to do the same thing again.
Don’t pay a deposit to Purdue until you have received your FA package and decided whether or not to attend. At the same time you pay a deposit to Purdue you notify RIT that you are not coming. If UMass offers you admission before Purdue sends the FA package and you’d rather go there, switch Purdue in the previous sentence with UMass. If UMass offers admission after you’ve sent a deposit to Purdue, you lose a 2nd deposit as you accept UMass (if that’s what you want) and tell Purdue sorry.
The general principle is you should not have 2 college believing at the same time that you have accepted their offer of enrollment.
