Can I cancel my deposit for college to avoid double depositing???

Because I am a transfer student, some of the colleges I am looking at have different transfer deadlines. Two schools I am looking at have deadlines around the normal time frame- Dec/Jan, but my top school's deadline is all the way in April and I wouldn't find out about my acceptance until June. I know double depositing is a big no-no and can risk your acceptance for both schools, so I was wondering if it would be ok to deposit to ONE of second choice schools in Jan, and if I get into to my top choice in June, would it be ok/ethical/legal to revoke my deposit from the first college, lose my money :/, and then once everything is cleared at said school and I am no longer set to attend, put in my deposit at my TOP choice. I hope my question makes since and I would REALLLLLY appreciate any help. Thanks guys!

Sure, its what people do when they get off the waitlist. Those kids enroll in college A, having sent in only 1 deposit. Happy news arrives from school B that they’re off the waitlist, it’s a place they’d prefer to go, so they send in a deposit to B and let A know they will not be coming. The deposit is their non-alumni gift to A.

You’d be doing the same thing. After all there’s no guarantee the college in Junes will accept you, and if you didn’t accept one of the earlier colleges you wouldn’t have a college to attend.
