Can i change my major?

I applied to UF for materials science & engineering. I haven't gotten my decision yet since i applied a few days after the 11/1 deadline. My question is can i change my major to chemical engineering now? Should I wait and see if they accept me before changing?

I think you can declare your major within your first 60 credits, then you have to be accepted to the college of engineering

Wait until after you get accepted. They don't care too much about what major freshmen apply as, since a lot of freshmen change their major. But UF has this kinda weird thing called critical tracking which basically tells you that you need to take certain classes by certain semesters in order to stay in your major. So you probably want to change your major as soon as you get to UF, and if you wait, make sure you have the critical tracking courses you need done for the major you want to change to or they won't let you change it.

thanks! both your responses were helpful. i think ill try to change as soon as i'm accepted if i am. rsala004 aren't you accepted as a freshman into the college of engineering? what do you mean that after 60 credits, you get accepted?
