Can I change personal Essay?

Hello! I have already submitted my common app to several schools, and I was wondering if it is allowed to change your personal essay on an alternate form of the common app. I would like to use my main personal essay (the one that has gone to every school so far) as one of my supplement essays for Stanford, and I would like to write a new essay for the commonapp peersonal essay. Now, I know it is possible to do this by creating an alternate version of the common app, but is it allowed, since the personal essay directions explicitly say: "Note: Your Common Application essay should be the same for all colleges. Do not customize it in any way for individual colleges. Colleges that want customized essay responses will ask for them on a supplement form."

Please help!! Thank you all!

Yes, you can do that. There are no “common app” police who will flag you. :)

Yes.

When CA tells you not to customize, they mean do not say in your essay “That is why I want to apply to X college” and then change it for each one you apply to.

You are free to change which essay you decide to upload for that section on alternate forms.
