You can start working on your application as soon as it's released in August. I think you can submit it as early as late August or early September. It's something like that. Someone might want to double check my response since I didn't submit my own application this past year until mid October. I can't say anything based off of a first hand experience, and I don't want to steer BigE in the wrong direction.

As for your GPA, Michigan as someone stated earlier, gets rid of your freshman grades, gets rid of all your easy A's in the non-academic classes, gets rid of all your grade boosts (you won't have over a 4.0), only counting English, Math, Social Studies, and Science (maybe foreign language, not sure). They also get rid of all your +'s and -'s, so if you had a B+ in a AC/AP class, count it as a 3.0 in your GPA. Your's will be significantly lower, possibly, when applying to Michigan. Their mean GPA for applicants is 3.6-3.9

Your SAT scores are great. But from the looks of your EC's, you may need more club and volunteer stuff. Community involvement. Don't count on just high test scores to get you in. At a college visit I went to, they said there are 6 factors. The most important was GPA, then curriculum. You need to have a high GPA (by the Michigan standards mentioned above), as well as taking numerous AC/AP classes.

You are ranked in the top 10% of your class, you have a solid and climbing GPA and good SAT and AP scores. If you apply in September, I would say you are indded a match.
