Can I consider MSU a safety?

Hi guys, sorry if these admission questions seem redundant.

I'm in-state
3.93 GPA Rank #5 of 350 or so
27 ACT / 1860 SAT (1260 on old sat)
Took 2 ap classes / the rest are required classes and business classes as this is what I intend on majoring in.
I'm lacking in ECs though...
Tennis for only one yr (couldnt play anymore sports due to health concern)
BPA for 2 yrs
NHS
and thats all.

I'm asking if MSU is a strong safety for me because if I know I can get in, maybe I'll submit an application to U of M early and if I dont make it, maybe then I'll submit to MSU. When is the latest I can submit my app. in?

Thanks

I would be extremely surprised if you did not get into State; in fact, I would go so far to say that it would be nearly impossible for you not to get into State. Your stats are also pretty good for U of M, and although I would not go so far as to say that you're a shoe-in, I would nevertheless be surprised if you did not get into Michigan.

You might as well apply to both at the same time. They both practice rolling admissions, so you should apply right away; I had friends who applied in September. I applied to both in December.

I believe Michigan's due date for applications is February 1, and I think MSU's is around there too. Not that you should wait that long though; they might run out of room for you by then.

Awesome, I appreciate the insight. Thanks for the advice stele32! :)

yep soniqwave, you're in at MSU. For sure. Try taking the ACT again to get a 30 and be in the Honors College.
