CSU GPA: 4.13
SAT: 1210
major: business admin - accounting
not trying to label sdsu as a safety school for me, but statistically speaking, my EI is well above the average? As long as nothing goes wrong with my application, I should get accepted right? not trying to act cocky, just curious
SDSU admits by major. That basic EI is for, say, Russian majors. Accounting is another ballgame. I’d say it’s a match, not a safety would especially if you’re out of area.
I agree with @MYOS1634, SDSU is a Match since you do not know the stats of all the other Business Admin-Accounting majors whom you will be competing against for the limited spots available.
Also SDSU no longer gives local preference so even if you are a SD resident, SDSU is no longer a guarantee.
I have college dual enrollment classes that I took during my junior year. This drops my csu gpa down all the way to 3.96 because I got a C and an A. My college counselor said that I don’t have to put it under the a-g category ( affecting my csu gpa) but he said he reccommends it still for some reason, despite it bringing down my EI drastically. Is he even right that I dont have to put my college classes I took under my an a-g category, because I would much rather keep a 4.13 csu gpa, not 3.96, but obviously I don’t want to get my application denied by not putting it under something. Either way, do you think I would sitll have a good shot at getting in with the 3.96? That would put my EI down to 4378, I would really like to get accepted here because of its business program.

If the dual enrollment classes are considered a-g courses and CSU/UC transferable, then you have to report them. If they are not a-g courses then they do not impact your CSU/UC GPA.
You are definitely within range but there is no way to predict since as I stated above, you will be compared to all the other Business Admin-Accounting major applicants.
well looks like its checked as transferable, so i guess I am stuck with a 4378 EI. Is there like data from last year that shows that I wouldve gotten accepted last year with these stats?
Is it the same policy for UCs? I plan on applying to some of those as well, and don’t want my GPA to tank in those applications as well.
Same policy for the UC’s if they are a-g courses and are transferable. Unfortunately, this is one of the issues not always discussed when student’s take DE courses in that their grades in these courses will impact their college chances.
You probably would have gotten an acceptance with that EI but each year is different so you cannot always predict.
And don’t try to “hide” them by not reporting them: when you start taking college classes at any college in the US, you’re entered into a clearinghouse system.
Try applying to Chapman, perhaps Laverne, whatever CSU is in-district, perhaps some WUE schools like WUE or Colorado State U or Montana State or WWU?
@Gumbymom Since when did SDSU say they no longer give preference to locals anymore?
@AntttG: For transfers, local prefetence is still given. For Freshman, it has bern a few years since local preference has been considered and they are phasing out the Compact for success program after this year for Freshman.
@Gumbymom oh ok thank you for the clarification, because im a local that just applied to SDSU. I also have a question because after I submitted my app I saw that in my transcript entry I entered my course code and course title correctly but for subject I labeled it as Computer programming instead of Computer science, can something like this get me denied from sdsu? for context Im taking CISC 181 at Mesa College which is for my business pre rec’s and I already got my redID and created my webportal account for sdsu last week.
There’s no such things as “pretty much in” until you have official notification from the school in the form of either a letter or a congratulations email from admissions.
