Can I consider St. John's a safety?

(by St. John's, I mean the university in Queens, New York. Just clarifying because I know there's a St. John's College somewhere in this country)

I have a 3.8 weighted GPA (a quarter of St. John's students have GPAs in the 2s, accoring to collegeboard.com)

Predicted ACT score of 28 or so (I'm not sure what the average SAT is, but the average SAT is somewhere between a 1040 and 1140)

I do lack for a plethora of ECs, but I'm a contributing writer for the town paper (have heard from many, including the school itself that while ECs are considered, they are not weighed as heavily as some other top universities).

Though this might not be an abundance of info, can anyone tell me if this can be considered a safety?

P.S. I don't know if this has anything to do with the price of tea in China, but I have two cousins and an uncle who attended... and other family members employed by the school (not currently).

i definitely think it would be a safety

I meant I don't know what the average ACT is... sorry... just caught that typo

It would definitely be a safety. 75th %ile SAT is 1180 and a 28 ACT is equivalent to a 1240-1270 on the old SAT I.

Thanks for your input.

Does anyone have a link to the SAT/ACT conversion chart?
