I want to study Operations Research at Berkeley, but sadly the competition is tough. There is some posibility I might be rejected. Let's say I apply to Berkeley for that major, can I apply to UCSD for Bioengineering? The Engineering requisits overlap and it's a back up if I don't get into Cal, any feed back would be appreciated.

Yes, you can, but you write the same essays for those school.

Yes, you may apply to different majors at different UCs.

Agreed with the above poster about the essays: the way the UC application is set up, you must write the same ones to every UC. Therefore if you’re applying with different majors it’s probably best to not write about majors in the essays.)

Which is impossible because the 1st question on the personal statement is why you chose the major you chose. XD

OTOH you can just morph the question into “Why are you doing what you’re trying to accomplish in college?” - eg if you were in engineering and bio and wanted to be a doctor or something. :)

@ OP: You can - just make sure that you mention both in your personal statements.

@ Oliver: Dude, how are you? Long time no talk!
