I'm a junior in high school. I currently have a 3.7 gpa and i really want to go virginia tech for the engineering program. My schedule for next year includes AP Stat, Pre-Calc, +Net/Eng 3/4, English 12, AP Gov, Sociology, and Physics. I want to potentially raise my gpa to at least a 3.9 or 4.0 by the first semester of senior year. Is it possible and is my schedule for next year good enough for VT?

Thanks in advance!

i wanted to to Virginia tech for the computer science program.*

Precalculus in your senior year is a bit behind, but since Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University tends to have an acceptance rate of around 70%, I think your chances are good.

Is that GPA uw?
Remember even if your second semester from junior and first semester from senior are all A, the cumulative GPA would still be only around 3.8, so you cannot raise it to 3.9 or above. I also agree that you would have a better chance if you can tale AP Calc next year. That would be helpful for applying to engineering school. Lastly, do you have any ACT or SAT score aleady? How is your Math section score?

Well, unless he self-studies it over the summer, I do not think he will be able to do it since he would not have the prerequisite. Of course, you don’t need one bit of precalculus apart from trigonometry to do Calculus - even on the level of Spivak, Apostle, Courant etc. But schools have needless prerequisites…

Yes, I am suggesting summer class or online course on pre-calc.
