I’ve been waitlisted for fall semester of my dream school and accepted into their spring semester. I also got into another school with a scholarship . Am I allowed to take a semester at the other school and then just go to my dream school in the spring? I’ve been searching a lot on the internet to see if there has been someone with a situation like this and I couldn’t find anything.
Other CC posters, correct me if I am wrong. If you take classes at another school Fall sememster, then when you attend your Dream School Spring semester, you would be a transfer not a first-time freshman so your scholarship and your acceptance may not be valid. Call both schools to see if can be done, they would be the only ones that would know.
So you’d basically be accepting admission to both schools simultaneously, with the intention of leaving the first school after one semester on scholarship so you can attend the other? And presumably not telling the second school that you are actually a transfer student, since you were admitted to college elsewhere and attended? Sounds unethical to me. Is there a rule? I suspect your dream school would require that you notify them if you are enrolling at any other college before showing up at their school.
I suppose you other option is to tell dream school to keep you on the wait list for fall admission rather than accept you for the spring term. That is the only scenario that I think allows you to accept admission to scholarship school while you wait for the possibility of dream school coming through.
No, you can’t do that. Your attending the first university is equivalent to turning down the second one. But you can accept while remaining on a waitlist, yes.
No, you can’t, in most cases.
Ask your “Spring Semester” college whether you’re allowed to enroll in college classes during your Fall semester, and under what conditions. In most cases, that’s not allowed, and your Spring admission is conditional to not attending any college, BUT some colleges don’t mind.
