okay, I just visited BC and after visiting that school, I just fell in love with it. I just wan to go there. BUt the only problem is that BC doesn’t have my major-Engineering. i got accepted to BU, HC and WPI, but after visiting those schools, I really don’t like them as I much as I loved BC. I can easily see myself at BC, but the other schools–nah I really can’t see myself going to any of those schools. So I was just wondering if this is possible—

I want to do my undergrad at BC. My major going to be Physics+Math (needed for Engineering) I will take physics, chemistry and math courses throughout 4 years of my undergrad year and then take “real” engineering courses when I go to grad. school. Now my questions are—

-Is this possible??
-If it’s possible, it this a good idea to do so or I should just choose BU/WPI?
-Am I going to have a safe job if I earn my engineering degree this way, or I have to go to engineering schools for both my undergrad and grad degrees in order to have a secured job in future??

Thanks XX55XX— appreciate the suggestion. Any other suggestions from anyone else?? Come on guys help me out here. I am really worried about this… :(

Personally, SRB2006, I would simply go to BU. They have a very strong engineering program and a lot of top aerospace and defense contractors often go there to recruit.

If you are simply a straight physics major, it may be a little more difficult to secure jobs like those. But, with BC’s famed alumni network, I’m sure you will be able to find something.

Your choice, really - but if you really value engineering, go to BU.

If I was an engineering major, and I had to choose between BU and BC, it would be BU, no questions asked. But I am a business major, so my choice was a little more difficult…

XX55XX-- Thanks for the advice, but for some reason I just don’t want to go to BU. But, I think I will probably extend my enrollment for a year and go to BC. Then if I really want to do engineering, I can go to BU. Grade deflation is one of the reasons why I don’t want to go to BU.

For your business major, I would just go to BC. BC ranks #17 as a business school where as BU ranks #25 close to NEU #27.

Well, actually, I am going to BC now - since I magically got a full-ride scholarship this morning. Before this the appearance of this scholarship, I was thinking about BU’s SMG because it was cheaper.

Well, the City of Boston was getting annoyed by the expansionary plans of Boston College, Boston University, and Harvard University, so there were some deals made.

Most of these deals involved the waiving the application fee for Boston applicants, the setting up special “scholarships” for Boston Public Schools students who were accepted into these schools, and such.

It’s great to be a local applying to local schools. Originally, I felt somewhat guilty by refusing to apply to schools outside of New England (my parents thought I was being a little insecure), but overall, it has worked in my favor. And being a Boston resident has helped on the financial aid front, as well.

As for your plans, SRB2006, I do wholeheartedly recommend Boston University’s College of Engineering. But, this is not to say that you can’t get decent engineering jobs coming out of Boston College, either.
