Can I double major if I transfer from a community college to a university?

Hi,
If I go to a community college for 2 years majoring in journalism and my transfer school accept all my credits could I double major if I take up a creative writing as well? Is there anyway I could gather enough credits to finish in another two years maybe if I take a summer semester course? I feel like because of how similar they are most of the requirements would align.

Thanks!

If you can fit all of the coursework needed in, then sure you can double major!

As long as you can complete both majors in a reasonable time to graduation, and the university or the specific majors do not have any rule prohibiting having both majors, then you should be able to.

Yes, and you can do it on time to boot! I started at a CC and then transferred to a private LAC where I double majored in–wait for it–English (creative writing) and secondary education.

Actually, I fell short of the student teaching to complete the secondary education degree (an on-site visit to a local HS where the teacher–a sweet, diminutive woman–got into a shouting match with a larger, angrier boy who wouldn’t report to the principal’s office when ordered made me think, “Yikes! I don’t want to teach high school!”), but I was definitely on track to finish the double major.

The downside is that you’ll have almost zero room to take anything else. In hindsight, I so regret that. I could have taken so many awesome classes instead of chasing an education major that I didn’t even end up completing.

Thank you these comments really helped I was really nervous about this.
