Can I drop a class?

So, I'm taking AP physics this year. I'm a senior and I'm applying to schools like University of Maryland College Park, University of Delaware, and my top school that I would absolutely love to go to is Boston University. The problem is, I absolutely loathe physics, and I want to drop it. I'm taking AP English Lit, AP Psych, and AP Studio Art also this year, and my weighted GPA senior year is like 5.67 (on 6.0 scale). My overall GPA is 4.15 (on 6.0 scale). I'm not really doing badly in physics, I have a B, but I'm having a lot of issues with my teacher, and it's a two period class at the end of the day that puts me in a terrible mood. I feel like I am wasting my time in the class because we never do anything, and I always end up teaching everything to myself at home anyway. I'm wondering if I drop this after second quarter, it could affect my admission to colleges, or if colleges would revoke admissions after seeing this. Thoughts?

I’ve also considered, since I would probably just leave school early, that I could just teach the subject to myself since I would have more free time, and then take the exam at the end of the year, does this seem necessary?

Sorry man, this is a tough call. Taking the class at home will probably make you look at little worse. A B isn’t going to hurt you really especially for your senior year. If you applied already and they see that you’re taking it they might accept you and you’re good to go even if you don’t get a great grade. If they put you on the wait list and see that you dropped the class that will probably hurt your chances. I would say, stay in the class and put in your best effort!

i’m not so worried about the fact that i have a B, I’m just really miserable. Also, i honestly think if i weren’t taking it, i would have straight A’s in the rest of my classes. but thanks for your input, i wasn’t really thinking about the affect it would have if i was wait-listed.

Stick with it! You’re almost done. And what Penguin said about getting waitlisted.
