can i drop ap us

so today is my first day of school. i have two ap classes this year, which are chem and us. the us teacher introduced us what we going to do this year and i feel that it is too much for me to handle. i am junior this year. i am worried that it will lower my grade. I just passed esl a year ago. And all my other classes are honor. I heard that it will leave a w on my transcript if i drop the ap classes. So can i drop ap us?(i have no interest in history but i love science and math).

I would ask your school. At my school there was a certain date students were allowed to drop by without it appearing on their transcript.

Both AP Chemistry & AP US History require a lot of works.

If you planning to major in science or math in college, I would suggest you to drop AP Chemistry instead. Study hard on the AP US History, pass the exam (3 or higher), and get the college credits

You do not want to study second year chemistry as a freshman. Most STEM majors do not require second year history.

Talk with your ESL teacher about this. It is possible that there is too much reading and writing for you in AP US History. You might need another year of regular or honors level classes in History before you are ready for AP History classes. Most students who are still learning English need that kind of time. It really is OK if you find out that you do.

Most teachers try to scare off many students in the first 2 weeks (the time in our school we have to drop a class) so that they can weed out the weaker kids. If you think you can spend the time then you can do the class and don’t let the teacher scare you. Now since you have no interest in history then it is perfectly fine to say that you don’t want to spend the time in an undesired class. Ultimately up to you
